Partial Bibliography for Verdi's Dream

I suppose because I have referred to several sources for Verdi's Dream in interviews on the net, many of you have asked whether I have a bibliography for the book. So here it is.  Go to the new page on this blog for a 99% complete bibliography for the novel. Just click on the page, in the right column. If you know of other sources that could be valuable, please let me know. Thanks for your interest!  BTW, the most complete source, which I found was indispensable as a text for the basic information for the Surrender and as the time frame for the novel's plot, was Allen Dulles's account of the surrender entitled (duh) The Secret Surrender, which is still available in newer editions on Amazon.

Check out Suspense magazine

Pleased to say I've been mentioned by Scott Nicholson in his column in  Suspense magazine. Have a look.  Basically, when Scott asked,
Q: Why did you go indie?
I responded, "Because I am sick unto death of the manipulative, controlling, devastating and demeaning (I could go on and on) run-around from agents and publishers. I know it first-hand as a former insider and now as an author, and it doesn't get any better. Too controlling for me and of me. As the Italian proverb says, ‘Better alone than in bad company.’"

Okay, a fit of pique, but it feels good once in a while.

Very thorough Amazon Kindle review: Saturday, July 10, 2010

Last Saturday in a long and thorough reader's review on Amazon, Tom K gave me some very positive comments and ideas. He was quite flattering about this blog site, which he liked a lot, and mentioned that he also liked and appreciated the book's Historical Epilogue. He would like to see a Bibliography for the history sources consulted for the novel, and also a page of the Cast of Characters included in the front matter of the novel. And so ideas are planted. In fact, when I get around to it (after I've finished the audio book, which is in the works) I plan to do a Cast of Characters not unlike what might be found in an opera programme. Stay tuned. Probably the hardest part will be figuring out how to correct/amend the edition of Verdi's Dream now up on Kindle.

As to the Bibliography, I already have one and will be putting it up on this blog within a few days.

My thanks to Tom K. for his very favorable review, attentive reading, and good ideas.

Article in The Creative Penn

The Creative Penn blog belongs to Joanna Penn, a marvelously knowledgable Australian lady who provides a neutral and unbiased (i.e., not Kindle or  otherwise endorsed or subsidized) forum for writers where interesting authors' articles and interviews are combined with solid, how-to information: How to do a pod cast, how to market your book, the value of the jacket.... I got to Joanna's blog serendipitously (the way most contacts are made on the web). She had asked me for this article almost as soon as I published online at the end of May, but everything was too hectic, and I only got to it last week.

If you take the time to read the article, I'd love to have your feedback or comment or suggestion, whatever. Either here or on my email, as you like. Thanks.
